Jessy Yasmeen Lugo (1994) known as Jessy Yasmeen is a Dutch singer-songwriter from Rotterdam with South-American roots. Jessy Yasmeen sings about her inner conflicts and distinguishes herself with her low authentic voice. With her music, Jessy wants to challenge listeners to be vulnerable and
conquer personal battles like fear and desire.
Jessy Yasmeen accompanies herself with an electric guitar and often performs with a live band. Her intimate performance is best described as dreamy Indie folk. Other sub-genres like alternative rock and ambient are implemented to create an unique sound. Jessy Yasmeens work is inspired by Ben
Howard, Bon Iver, Daughter, James Bay, and Matt Corby.
In the past three years, Jessy Yasmeen played more then 80 shows and performed on (international) stages like Paradiso (Amsterdam), Het Paard (The Hague) and Prachtwerk (Berlin). Her first single ‘‘Alone’’ came out in 2017 in cooperation with producer Martijn Groeneveld, who is known for hisproductions with Blaudzun and John Coffey.
The debut EP of Jessy Yasmeen called ‘’Unchain Me’’ is recorded at the Big Snuff Studio Berlin in cooperation with producer Matteo Pavesi, who is known for his work with Alice Phoebe Lou. The ‘’Unchain Me’’ EP is released on the 5 th of July 2019 and celebrated in a crowded Roodkapje (Rotterdam). The songs describe the fighting process of self-love where the phases denial,
confrontation, consciousness, and acceptance are enlightened
